12-week online walking program

Program Rules and General Information:

Who:

The Step into Spring 12-week online walking program is part of the St. John's co-worker wellness program. It is available to all St. John's co-workers, including those enrolled in both the HMO and HRA health plans.

Family members are welcome to register and complete the program, but will not be eligible to win prizes. At the conclusion of the program, winners will be required to show an employment badge to claim their prize.

What:

Step into Spring is a free, on-line incentive program designed to help co-workers improve their health through physical activity. It is available online to ensure every co-worker has an opportunity to participate regardless of their work shift and/or location.

No personal health information is maintained on this site except for steps/miles logged or walking time, but you will be asked to enter a User Name (up to 12 characters, last name suggested ) and Password (4-digit birth year suggested). Co-workers may choose to use other information for their user name and password if desired.

We recommend you write down your user name and password in a secure location as it may take several hours to get this information if you forget or misplace it. Corporate Health and Wellness has Step into Spring business cards to easily record this information for each participant.

Why:

The Step into Spring walking program was designed to provide a fun, easily accessible way for co-workers to begin a walking program.

Each week co-workers will be presented with helpful tips to enhance their walking experience.  Information on goal setting and eliminating barriers will also be shared. Links to other helpful websites are included as well. Upon recording each week's steps/miles walked, the co-worker can progress to the next week. While it is not necessary to log in daily to record steps/miles walked, all participants are expected to log on at least weekly over the 12-week period.

St. John's Corporate Health and Wellness is committed to providing our co-workers with innovative tools to enhance their health and quality of life.

When:

The Step into Spring promotion is available from March 10, 2010 - June 14, 2010. Participants must record steps/miles walked for all 12 weeks during the program period to be eligible for prizes. Participants who jump ahead by recording miles prior to walking will be disqualified from receiving prize awards.

Participants will have until June 14 to record final week totals before prize selection begins.

Registrants may receive e-mail reminders periodically over the course of the program period.
