Making the Most of Your HRA

Before the HRA:

  • Do not eat or drink anything, except water, for at least 8 hours before your scheduled appointment. (You must be fasting this length of time for the blood test to be accurate.) Please drink plenty of water as it will help in locating a vein for the cholesterol test.
  • Wear loose clothing around arms to facilitate evaluation procedures.
  • Please take any prescribed medications ordered by your physician with water only. If you are a diabetic and are taking medications, schedule your assessment early and refrain from taking your medication until your blood work has been drawn.
  • Fill complete and bring any required paperwork with you the day of the health assessment.
  • Please notify the staff if you are pregnant prior to the assessment.

As part of the HRA, participants complete a lifestyle questionnaire. There are no wrong answers. It is a way to gauge lifestyle behaviors and learn how to improve your overall well-being and prevent problems down the road. Questions include:

  • Tobacco usage
  • Diet/exercise habits
  • Seatbelt usage
  • Completion of regular health screenings
  • Family Health History

Once the questionnaire is complete, participants will receive a link to view a second report card based on their answers.
